Sergio Muto is the winner of the fourth edition of the Genoa Pesto World Championship! He’s 58 years old, born in Cosenza (Calabria, Italy) and living in Germany since 1976 where he manages a delicatessen. After winning a Pesto preliminary competition in Stuttgart in 2008, for several years he has specialized in the mortar made pesto, so he actually gives courses on that in Germany.

“Palatifini Cartoons” first edition saw the participation of 169 authors from 49 different Countries worldwide. From Belgium to China, from Ukraine to Germany to Israel, more than 300 cartons submitted from around the world. Among these, 100 were selected to make part of the exhibition and catalog, among them were chosen by the jury 10 finalists.

Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce of Imperia, two pesto competitions valid for the 2012 Pesto World Championship were carried out during Olioliva, the festival of the new olive oil! The winners are Fabrizio Ceccarelli, cook, and Jacopo Mainardi, student. They are both from Imperia. Here on the left the jury of friday competition!

In the heart of Soho, an entire block of 4 floors is dedicated to the art of cooking: it is the International Culinary Center, a dream for those who want to become chef and also for those who want to eat something… on the ground floor there is the restaurant to taste dishes prepared by students (burgers are great!!!!).

Angelo Vanagolli is the Pesto champion of Savona! He is a doctor, he took part in previous editions of our Pesto championship, and this year he will represent Savona in the World Final.
Pesto competition animated the beautiful old docks in the port of Savona, during "Stile Artigiano - Made in Liguria".

The Pesto Competition in Montepegli (in the hills above Rapallo, Liguria), valid for the 4th Edition of the World Championship, was very intense and participated. The winner is Roberto Ciccarelli, followed in second place by Stefano Ferro (a family of very good pesto makers!) and then by Stefania Passaro and Mario Zanoni.
The jury was presided by the World Champion, Federico Ferro, and by Maurizio Valle, one of the organizer of Palatifini Association. The jury also included Francesca Faruffini and Roberto Tarella.

Three beautiful days in Bergen among Pesto demos, preliminary competitions and courses, both outdoors and in professional kitchens. The Cultural Association of Palatifini had been invited by the Region of Bergen to attend at Bergen Food Festival, the biggest event in Norway dedicated to traditional and quality food.
The experience was a great success: Norwegians love our pesto and they absolutely enjoy the possibility to try to prepare Genoese Pesto by mortar and pestle!

The winner of the official Pesto competition, valid to select the representative of Norway at the next Genoa Pesto World Championship (March 17, 2012), is Mrs. Elin Kvamme (left in the picture). She is a rector of an upper primary school and also the local president of Slow Food in Bergen. Elin has been awarded by the Minister of Health of Norwegian Government, Mrs. Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen (right in the picture).
