Dal 24 al 26 gennaio il Campionato del Mondo di Pesto al Mortaio andrà in missione a Columbus negli Stati Uniti per una delle ultime eliminatorie prima della finalissima del 28 marzo a Palazzo Ducale. Il programma prevede, oltre alla gara per cui è stata lanciata una call a personalità della cultura, del turismo e dell’enogastronomia, dimostrazioni al Columbus State Community College, eventi che coinvolgono l’amministrazione municipale e la comunità italo-americana e, non ultime, iniziative di comunicazione. Quando nella passata edizione del Campionato si trattò di scegliere il campione americano, il Presidente dell’Associazione Culturale Palatifini Roberto Panizza (invitato anche quest’anno assieme a Mauro Cavallero del direttivo) venne intervistato dall’ABC (seconda rete televisiva americana) nel telegiornale di massimo ascolto e la trasmissione si concluse con la preparazione del Pesto al Mortaio con l’anchor man.
Columbus vanta il più antico gemellaggio con Genova che nel 1955 regalò alla città dell’Ohio la statua di Cristoforo Colombo collocata nella piazza del Municipio nella quale ogni anno si svolgono le celebrazioni colombiane. Columbus fa anche parte con Genova dell’Associazione internazionale delle Sisters Cities, a cui si deve l’organizzazione dell’evento, e ospita una delle più attive e appassionate comunità italo-americane. È anche una delle città più scolarizzate al mondo (70.000 studenti nella State University, oltre 20.000 nei Community College) in cui insegnano molti italiani compreso una genovese, che detiene la cattedra di architettura nella prestigiosa Università, grande sostenitrice del Campionato Mondiale.
L’eliminatoria per incoronare il rappresentante americano all’VIII Campionato Mondiale di Pesto Genovese al Mortaio a Palazzo Ducale il 28 marzo 2020, è organizzata dall’Associazione “Greater Columbus Sister Cities International in partnership con il “Columbus State Community College”e verrà svolta domenica 26 gennaio dalle 13 alle 14,30 presso il Wasserstrom Foundation Culinary Theatre, alla Mitchell Hall.

Nel frattempo, si stanno preparando le “batterie” dei 100 concorrenti che sabato 28 marzo si sfideranno nella preparazione del Pesto al mortaio migliore del mondo!

From January 24th to 26th Genova Pesto World Championship will go on a mission to Columbus in the United States for one of the last qualifying competitions before the final on March 28th at Palazzo Ducale. The program includes, in addition to the tender for which a call has been launched to personalities of culture, tourism and food and wine, demonstrations at the Columbus State Community College, events involving the municipal administration and the Italian-American community and, not least , communication initiatives. When in the past edition of the Championship it was a question of choosing the American champion, the President of the Palatifini Cultural Association Roberto Panizza (also invited this year together with Mauro Cavallero of the board) was interviewed by ABC (second American television network) in the news of maximum listening and transmission ended with the preparation of Pesto with the anchor man. Columbus boasts the oldest twinning with Genoa which in 1955 gave the city of Ohio the statue of Christopher Columbus placed in the town hall square where Colombian celebrations take place every year. Columbus is also part of the International Association of Sisters Cities with Genoa, which is responsible for organizing the event, and hosts one of the most active and passionate Italian-American communities. It is also one of the most schooled cities in the world (70,000 students at State University, over 20,000 in Community Colleges) where many Italians teach including a Genoese, who holds the chair of architecture in the prestigious University, a great supporter of the World Championship. The elimination to crown the American representative at the VIII World Championship of Genoese Pesto al Mortar at Palazzo Ducale on March 28, 2020, is organized by the Association "Greater Columbus Sister Cities International" in partnership with the "Columbus State Community College" and will be held on Sunday 26 January from 13 to 14.30 at the Wasserstrom Foundation Culinary Theater, at Mitchell Hall. In the meantime, the "batteries" of the 100 competitors are preparing to compete on Saturday 28 March in the preparation of the best pesto in the world!
