The Liguria Region was a major player in Vienna, where an important event was held on Thursday 22 November organized by the Regional State Conference in the headquarters of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, for the promotion and enhancement of the enogastronomic heritage of the Italian regions.

Until 25 November, in more than 350 restaurants around the world, gnocchi with pesto, a symbol of our land, will be proposed “.

In Vienna, Liguria offered to the ambassadors of some European and non-European countries, the possibility to taste the menu elaborated together with the Consortium (Liguria Regional Enoteca, DOP riviera Liguria oil conservation consortium, DOP Genoese basilic protection consortium): the trofie with pesto, Triora bread with taggiasche olives paté, olive oil and lemon anchovies, stuffed top, Val di Vara cheeses, to taste typical dishes like vegetable pies, anchovies, and finally our desserts like amaretti di Sassello, the Genoese panettone, the spungata, the canestrelli and much more. Together with the food we have presented some excellent products from our DOP wine production: Vermentino Colli di Luni, Cinque Terre, Bianco Colline di Levanto, Ciliegiolo Golfo del Tigullio – Portofino, Bianchetta Genovese and Coronata Val Polcevera, Pigato and Granaccia Riviera Ligure di Ponente, Rossese di Dolceacqua and Orneasco di Pornassio.

During the event there was a demonstration of Pesto Genovese at the Mortar and Ambassador Luca Fratini, Vice-Permanent Representative of Italy to the OSCE, intervening at the opening of the event, said “We are proud to host the OSCE Giovanni Arimondo of the Palatifini Association, which organizes the World Pesto Championship and the Liguria Region. Today’s event gives us a further opportunity to show our colleagues, diplomats representing 57 European and non-European countries, the wealth of Italian cultural and gastronomic heritage and to celebrate in the best possible way the 2018 Year of Italian food and the III Week of Italian cuisine in the world “.
