On Wednesday, March 11, a press conference presenting the activities of the new edition of the World Pesto Mortar Championship was held in the elegant Sala Dorata of Palazzo Tobia Pallavicino in Genoa.
Journalists, representatives of regional and city institutions, as well as the organizers and partners of the initiative, attended the meeting to present the contents, objectives, and program of the Championship. The event was an opportunity to highlight not only the competition itself but also the cultural and symbolic value that pesto prepared with a mortar represents for the Ligurian territory.
During the conference, the main activities accompanying the Championship were presented, from the qualifying rounds held in different locations across the region to the grand final, which will feature the best contestants selected throughout the competition. It was also emphasized how the event continues to grow with each edition, attracting participants and enthusiasts from across Italy and abroad.
Particular attention was given to the project by the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, which will present an innovative system designed for growing basil in space—an experiment that combines scientific research with gastronomic tradition.
The conference also announced a public square drawing event organized by the Genoa Comics Academy, where illustrators and artists will create artworks live. The pieces produced during the event will then be auctioned in a charity initiative in support of Libera.
