Pesto takes center stage at Italian Cuisine Week in Munich

In November 2024, the World Pesto Championship was one of the highlights of Italian Cuisine Week, confirming its status as one of the most iconic events celebrating Ligurian culinary traditions on an international level. The initiative, organized by ITALCAM in collaboration with Liguria International, took place at Eataly Munich, a reference point for the promotion of Italian culinary excellence in Germany.

On this occasion, 16 participants competed in the preparation of pesto according to the traditional mortar method. The intense and engaging competition highlighted not only the technical skills of the contestants, but also their ability to interpret and enhance one of the most iconic recipes of Ligurian cuisine.

At stake was not only the title of best pesto of the day, but also prestigious direct access to the final stage of the World Championship, scheduled to take place in Genoa in March 2026. This coveted achievement will allow the winners to compete against around 100 competitors from all over the world in a competition that celebrates tradition, craftsmanship, and gastronomic culture.

Congratulations to Kevin Kecskes and Peter Amann, the stars of this international selection, who will have the honor of representing their category on the global pesto stage.
