On Monday, January 19th, 2015, the Genoese Pesto made by marble mortar and wooden pestle is set to become UNESCO World Heritage. Thanks to Regione Liguria, Genoa City Council and Chamber of Commerce of Genoa, which are the promoters, we will be able to realize this dream, cultivated for a few years and decided during the final of the 2014 Pesto World Championship.
We have spent the last few months verifying the potential and preparing this initiative. The road will be long and difficult but the international approach, cultivated by the Pesto World Championship from its beginning, as well as the defense of the traditions through other public and private initiatives for the promotion of the Pesto that are already organized in our region, will help us.
One of the basic conditions for the success of the procedure, to be accepted into the “tentative list”, is the widest participation of territorial organizations and associations, national and international events and initiatives. In other words, the Community of Pesto!
