The ten “Pestos” prepared were evaluated by a really great jury composed of a representation of Ligurian chefs who adhere to the Association of Restaurateurs “Genoa Gourmet” and in particular : Federico Bisso chef of the restaurant “Da O Vittorio”, Matteo Losio chef of the restaurant “Bruxaboschi”,Mino Patti chef of the restaurant “Eden” , Salvatore Perrone chef of the restaurant “Benita” and Umberto Squarzati chef of the restaurant “Vitturin”.

Our congratulations go to Sophie Pillod which won the first place and then the right to participate in the Genoa Pesto World Finals in Genoa (March 2014) and also to Nicolas Lefort and Kaori Arahori who finished in second and third place. A sincere thanks for participating to all competitors: Anna Marie Pillod, Anne-Laure Brisset, Florie Pouzet, Gama Thibaut, M.Luis Urias, Victoria Bendaud and Laetitia Ducros, that we gladly invite to come to Genoa for the Championship. That is especially a big party and a showcase of the excellences of our region.

Genoa Pesto competition in Lyon was an opportunity to start the relationship between Lyon chefs and Genoa chefs in order to create opportunities for exchange between the two cuisines and organize joint events. The Genoese delegation also had the opportunity to visit Les Halles de Lyon and the Institute of high Culinary Education “Paul Bocuse”, thanks to the collaboration of the Ville de Lyon and the direction of Les Halles.
