The last preliminary competition valid for the IV Genoa Pesto World Championship took place in Florence at Taste the most prestigious Italian event dedicated to food quality.
10 competitors – it must be said – from all over the globe: Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Spain, in addition to the Italian cities of Florence, of course, Naples and Piacenza.
Competitors – almost at their first time – were evaluated by a high profile jury composed of Annamaria Bertoncello from Cipriani Food, Tommaso Bardazzi from “Pastificio Cocco”, Giovanni D’Avino from “Pastai Gragnanesi soc coop”, Dino Martelli from “Pastificio Martelli” e Alberto Zampino from “Pastificio Gentile”.
Diego Della Pietra won, he lives in Prague where he runs an Italian delicatessen. At the second place Ivan Heiser, Slovenian in love with Pesto, at the third place Luigi Franchi, managing editor of the magazine Catering Ristorazione e consumi fuori casa.
Davide Paolini, famous gastronomic journalist and Critic, coordinator of the “RING” of TASTE, has proclaimed the winner.
