Alfonsina Trucco is the winner of the fifth edition of the Genoa Pesto World Championship. The World Champion 2014 is 87 years old, lives in Montoggio near Genoa, and prepares Pesto using an old family mortar. She passed the first selection (from 100 competitors to 10 finalists) and then won against the other nine finalists. At the second place Angelo Vanagolli and third Candida Grosso.
The other finalists are Federico Bonzi, Bruno Canepa, Paolo Brovia, Luca Bernava, Mirco Chiavarini, Massimiliano Cresta e Fabrizio Migliorini. Among them, three IT programmers, an engineer and a nuclear physician.
Genoa Pesto World Championship is an extraordinary event in an atmosphere of joy and participation, with more than 2,000 people, including competitors, judges and International guests.
