Martina Calautti, young student of the Hotel School “Città di Lavagna” is the champion of the preliminary competition, which was held in the beautiful setting of Brignardello porch of Marconi Square in the historic center of Lavagna, on the occasion of “GirOlio d’Italia” and “Torneo di Pesto al Mortaio” in memory of Denis Alushaj that this year is the fourth edition and has become official competition of the World Championship.
In second place Luigi Mangiante, from Sestri Levante, and third Alessio Muniz, a school friend of Martina. Competitors have been students of the Hotel School “Città di Lavagna” and doctors and professionals from Tigullio and Lombardia.
Our congratulations to all the competitors and in particular to Martina who will represent the Tigullio and his school at the VII Genoa Pesto World Championship in April 2018. Many thanks for the perfect organization at the Consorzio Centro Storico di Lavagna in collaboration with Scuola Alberghiera “Città di Lavagna” and Cooperativa Agricola Lavagnina.
The jury was composed by Francesco Levaggi Proloco of Leivi, Elisa Bixio councillor responsible for tourism in Sestri Levante, Massimiliano Marrè Chairman of CIV Lavagna, Claudio Garibaldi Proloco of Né and Virgilio Pronzati, food and wine journalist. The jury was presided by Roberto Panizza, President of Palatifini.
During the day, we were presented extra-virgin olive oils produced locally and typical agricultural products of the territory. After the competition, flag bearers and traditional dancing and a tasting of local dishes.
